I am a huge proponent of parents reading books to their children, but there is also a great value in allowing kids to become fluent on the computer. There are some fabulous educational games for a kindergartner's skill level. Mrs. Macias has several linked on her protopage.

Dr. Jean's Rock, Rhyme, Write, & Read

I'm really looking forward to attending Dr. Jean's Rock, Rhyme, & Read! Everything You Need from A to Z! seminar in February. Dr. Jean Feldman is a best-selling author that is a kindergarten teacher's dream! She has written tons of useful materials, but better yet, produced many songs and videos to use with students. She has a great way of blending fun and creative play with learning. I'm grateful to be given to opportunity to hear her present. I can't wait to learn from the master! Christmas Basket Raffle Items Needed

Dear Families,

The annual “Basket Raffle” will begin in November. Each classroom is responsible for putting together a basket. The baskets are then raffled off at the “Supper with Santa” event on December 1^st. This is a major fundraising event for our school. Proceeds are used to purchase things such as AR prizes and assemblies that make our school a special place for kids! All baskets will go on display in early November, which is just around the corner.

Our classroom basket theme is… “Fun with Art”

For this fundraiser to be successful, we need your help! We need each student to donate items for our themed basket.

This basket will be geared toward kid-friendly art and craft products.

Possible items that we could use:

Medium to Large Basket to hold items (possibly wicker or some sort of decorative basket/bin)

Gift Cards to JoAnn Fabrics or Hobby Lobby

Marker Set

Paint Set

Paint Brushes

Drawing Paper

Sparkly Glue

Stickers

Craft Idea Book

Construction Paper

Craft Scissors

The more items we have in our basket the more appealing it will be to ticket buyers. If you are able to donate to the basket, please send in items during the next couple of weeks. Bringing it with you to conferences may be a convenient way to drop them off.
